Featured Tour: Gazeley | Altitude at Magna Park, Milton Keynes

2018 saw us gain a new client, Gazeley: one of Europe’s leading logistics real estate developers and investors. It has schemes and projects all over Western Europe and we were commissioned to create bespoke, high resolution 360 virtual tours for three of its latest properties on two of its most prestigious logistics parks.

The first: Magna Park, Lutterworth, is Gazeley’s flagship distribution park and home to 29 different occupiers. The park has been operating over 25 years and is the UK’s first, and Europe’s largest, dedicated distribution location. Second is Magna Park in Milton Keynes; one of Gazeley’s newer distribution parks. Click any thumbnail below to launch the tour.

The tour starts off with one of our ‘trademark’, but industry-leading, high-resolution aerial 360 panoramas. The purpose-built “heavy-lift” drone can lift heavy payloads such as our 50 megapixel Canon 5DS-R dSLR camera rig that ‘off-the-shelf’ drones cannot do. The 5DS-R is capable of capturing photos that, when stitched together, produce seamless gigapixel panoramas up to 25,000 pixels wide. Not only does this capture the scale of each distribution park but also puts the park in context of its immediate surroundings, neighbouring occupiers and principal road network.

The other 360 scenes within the tours were captured using both eye-level and 8 metre mast panoramas – perfect for showing a greater depth of field for loading yards and inside these huge logistics ‘sheds’.

One of the things that really blew us away about this project was the size of the logistics space we had to work with – sheds up to half a million square feet of space. The tours include, as standard, useful text-based annotations highlighting important context useful to potential occupiers: eaves height, floor loading, total areas, etc.

Interactive nodes within each scene allow the viewer to take the virtual tour around the complex to understand the layout and how the space is configured.

As with all our virtual tours, this example can be viewed on mobile devices using the gyroscope feature to look around (smartphones and tablets) and even in virtual reality (VR) using Google Cardboard VR viewers or Oculus Go. The tours work cross-platform on iOS, Android and PC / Mac and are also mobile-responsive.
